The Wonders of creation. Fascinating and mysterious, the Orient reveals its beauty since the Creation. Great Wonders like Babylon and beautiful Wonders like the Golden Peacock discovered in the tale of Aboulcacem.
It is through this little golden door that we discover the wonder among Wonders: Aboulcacem holding a wand in one hand and in the other the little Tree of Life whose trunk was silver, the branches and leaves emeralds and the fruit rubies. At the top of the tree appeared a golden peacock, finely crafted, whose body was filled with amber, spirit of aloe and other fragrances. He laid this tree at the feet of the Prince Calife Haroun and by tapping the peacock’s head with his wand the bird spread its wings and tail and began to spin with great speed. As it turned the perfumes which filled it flew out in all directions, embalming the richly decorated hall.

The kingdom of Cashmere was once governed by a king named Togrul-bey; he had a son and a daughter that were admired by all. The Prince was a young hero whose thousand virtues made him very recommendable and Farrukhnaz, his sister, was a miracle of beauty. This beauty inspired love in all the men who dared to look at her as she left for the hunt. A love which made them lose all reason and fall into a languor that gradually consumed them.
Waking from a dream, the princess of the kingdom of Cashmere no longer believes in men’s fidelity and decides to never marry. It was only after “The Thousand and One Nights”, recited each morning during her bath, that the princess renews her confidence in love and at last meets her life-love.

Inspiration
One day, near the coast of Tripoli, appeared a beautiful girl adorned with jewels on a great black fish. The son of the Sultan came down from Gharyan to see her. She told him she came from an island, Malta, and, having been promised her liberty would be respected, she advanced down one of the streams.
But a net was thrown to cut off her retreat; therefore she continued upstream pursued by the crowd and the Sultan’s son; then, having arrived at the foot of the mountain near the source, she called on God. An abyss opened and she was engulfed with the river and the fish, and ever since the waters have disappeared. Legend has it that seventy thousand stones were thrown in to find the water – not the waters of the sources that now form a marvellous underwater source, but those of rain, symbol of life.
